Fair Finder Unofficial guide

Find any food at the 2026 N.C. State Fair, then walk straight to it.

A free map for your phone. Type what you’re craving and see every booth that lists it, nearest walk first.

Open the app Works in your phone’s browser. Nothing to install, no account.
Fair Finder guiding to a booth: a pink walking route on the map, and a bar at the bottom showing an arrow, 720 ft walk, In 180 ft, bear right, and a Stop button

What it does

Search results for turkey leg, listing booths with the matching menu item highlighted

Search any food

Search by what’s on the menu, not just by vendor name. “Turkey leg”, “funnel cake” or “lemonade” finds every booth whose fair listing mentions it, with close matches and common spellings covered.

The expanded guide panel with a large direction arrow, walking time, GPS accuracy and the booth’s menu

Live walking directions

Tap a booth and follow the arrow. It turns with your phone’s compass, a route is drawn along the fairground paths, and hints like “In 180 ft, bear right” update as you walk. If you wander off, it reroutes.

Map with ATM markers around the fairgrounds

Find an ATM

Turn on the ATM layer to see cash machines around the grounds, taken from the fair’s published grounds map. Their spots are approximate, so look for signs as you get close.

Share a booth link

Found the good corn dogs? Tap Share to send a link. Your friend opens it and gets walking directions to that booth from wherever they are.

Popular booths show under the search box when several devices have walked up to them or tapped the same food. Counts use a random device id (no location), and a booth or food appears only after at least 5 different devices. Turn sharing off in the app’s Layers panel.

How to use it

  1. Allow locationWhen your browser asks, tap Allow so the map can show where you are. On iPhone, if you tapped Don’t Allow, go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Safari Websites.
  2. Tap “Enable compass”Start guiding to a booth and tap the 🧭 button so the arrow turns with your phone. Without it, the arrow points north-up until you start walking.
  3. Add to Home ScreeniPhone (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app. It opens full screen like an app.

Use with your AI

Fair Finder also runs a small, read-only MCP server, so AI assistants that support remote MCP connectors can search the same booth, food and ride data in a chat (for example “where can I get a cherry slush?” or “where’s the Tilt-A-Whirl?”). Every answer includes a Fair Finder link that opens walking directions on your phone. It is unofficial, like the app.

Server URL: https://mcp.fairfinder.birbol.com/mcp

If your client already uses https://fair-finder-mcp.lively-shape-f373.workers.dev/mcp, that address still works.

  1. ClaudeSettings › Connectors › Add custom connector. Paste the server URL and choose “No sign in”.
  2. ChatGPTTurn on developer mode (Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced), then create an app or connector with the server URL and “No Authentication”.
  3. Other MCP clientsAdd a remote (streamable HTTP) MCP server with the URL above. No API key or account is needed. Tools: search, get_details, nearby, popular_now.
